About Momentum Education

Momentum Education is a nonprofit focused on one outcome: helping first-generation, low-income students successfully transition to and complete post-secondary education that leads to a living-wage career. We do this through: SAT preparation, college and financial aid advising, and ongoing post-secondary support.

About the Role

​This is a high-ownership, execution-heavy role responsible for driving Momentum Education's external presence and supporting revenue growth.

You will work closely with the Executive Director and play a key role in:

  • Grant writing, fundraising support, and event planning and execution

  • Marketing and communications

  • Partner, alumni, and volunteer engagement.

If you prefer working deeply on a single project over time, this role will not be a fit.

What You Will Own

​1. Grant & Donor Communication

  • Support grant writing, submissions, and tracking

  • Draft donor communications, including thank-you letters and updates

  • Conduct research on prospective donors and funding opportunities

2. Marketing & Communication​

  • Own execution of: Social media, Newsletter, and Website updates

  • Create clear, compelling content that reflects Momentum's mission and impact

  • Maintain consistency and quality across all external communications

3. Alumni & Volunteer Engagement​

  • Support outreach and engagement of alumni network

  • Help recruit, coordinate, and communicate with volunteers

  • Build systems to track and improve engagement over time

4. Partnerships & External Engagement

  • Support relationships with corporate partners and external stakeholders

  • Coordinate and attend monthly field trips to corporate partners

  • Represent Momentum Education professionally in external settings

5. Events & Internal Coordination

  • Help plan every four month Advisory Board meetings

  • Support team meetings and internal coordination

  • Ensure all logistics and follow-through are handled with precision

Who You Are

Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience in nonprofit, education, marketing, or a related field

  • Experience with writing (grants, communications, or content creation) preferred

Required Skills

  • Exceptional written communication skills - this is a core requirement

  • Strong organizational and project management skills

  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously 

  • High attention to detail

  • Comfort using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT or similar) to improve speed and quality of work

  • You take ownership and can work autonomously and independently

  • You are comfortable operating across multiple functions

  • You move quickly while maintaining quality

  • You leverage tools (including AI) to work faster and produce high-quality output

  • You do not rely on AI blindly - you review, refine, and ensure accuracy

What Success Looks Like

  • Grants and donor communications are completed on time and at a high quality

  • Marketing and communications are consistent, clear, and professional

  • Events and partnerships run smoothly without last-minute issues

  • Alumni and volunteer engagement improves over time

  • The Executive Director can rely on you to execute without needing to follow up

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $50,000 - $60,000

  • Benefits: Company provided health, vision, and dental insurance (small employee contribution required) | 10 PTO days | 11 Paid Holidays | 403(b) Retirement Plan, no company match

  • Schedule: 40 hours per week

  • Work Model: 4 days in-person and 1 day remote
